Christmas is a special time for us - a time to recognize the love and goodness of God; a time to know that Christ has come among us; a time to remember that God now share the same joys and sorrows that we do; a time to rejoice in the hope of eternal life that Jesus brings to each of us. We welcome all of you, those who celebrate with us regularly, and those who have been away for a while. We invite each of you to celebrate with us, and we ask that you please bring a friend to celebrate with us as well. Thank you all the kindness, support, encouragement and generosity you've shown during the year. May the newborn Christ Child bless you and your loved ones! Have a blessed Christmas a Happy New Year!
CHRIST IS BORN! LET US GLORIFY HIM!
There is no better way to celebrate Thanksgiving Day than by coming to the Liturgy as a family to thank almighty God for all the good gifts He has given us. Thanksgiving Day is the time for us to remember to nurture a grateful heart in all that we do each day of our life. On Thanksgiving Day, we would do well to really ponder the many, many blessings God has given us, and ask God to help us grow in a real spirit of gratitude that will show itself in our generosity toward others.
I hope that all of you have a very Happy Thanksgiving Day, as you gather with family and friends, and thank God for the gift of each other. It is so wonderful to be able to gather with friends and family to renew and deepen our friendship and love. It is also a good time for forgiveness toward those family members or friends that we have had disagreements with in the past. We should never lose time in trying to make or restore peace with others, even if we have to swallow our pride to do so. In the long run, we will be pleasing God with our efforts of reconciliation. Life is too short for people to be at odds with one another. The holidays give us a great opportunity to do so much that will help us imitate Jesus in a deeper way.
So, Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope to see you at Divine Liturgy on Thursday morning.
